Cleaning Desk Tops
Wood office furniture can retain its natural beauty for life if proper care is taken. For daily dusting, use a clean, slightly damp soft cloth and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. Dry with another soft cloth. For monthly cleaning, use a quality cleaner or flax soap formulated for wood furniture. Follow manufacturer's directions. Dampen, do not saturate, a soft cloth with the cleaning solution, and wipe the surface. Dry with a clean cloth. Oils and ammonia should never be used on your wood furniture. Twice a year, sparingly apply a non-silicone polish, being careful not to create a wax buildup. Buildup may be removed, contact your nearest DARRAN representative for assistance.
Drawer Glide Lubrication
Drawer glides are lubricated for life of slide, but on occasion, lubricant needs to be applied to reduce the amount of friction when opening and closing the drawer. Accuride recommends Castro EP2 Lubricant, available at automotive stores or any petroleum jelly can be used.
Drawers
Manufactured of multi-ply hardwood and engineered wood, our drawers were selected for hardness, tightness of grain and resistance to splinters. A highly durable UV Coating has been applied that is resistant to marks and inks. Waterbased stains can be wiped out using a mild soap and damp cloth. Any household cleaner may be used, however, avoid any petroleum or thinner-based cleaner.
Hardware
We recommend using an acrylic type cleaner for all brass, antique bronze and chrome-plated metal parts. Again, avoid using any petroleum or thinner-based cleaner.
Humidity Control
A stable environment is important for the care of your product. Fluctuations in humidity and temperature cause panels and solid wood components to expand and contract leading to panel warpage and finish problems. DARRAN recommends humidity levels of 30%-50%. Avoid levels of less than 30% and prolonged exposure to dry heat during winter months.
Finishes
Daily: For daily dusting, use a clean, slightly damp soft cloth and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. Dry with another soft cloth.
Monthly: Use a quality cleaner or flax soap specially formulated for wood furniture. Follow manufacturers directions. Dampen, do not saturate, a soft cloth with the cleaning solution, and wipe the surface. Dry with a clean cloth. Oils and ammonia should never be used on the wood furniture.
Fabric Care
For an overall general cleaning under normal use, lightly clean with a dampened soft cloth with water. For spots and spills, professional upholstery cleaning is recommended.
Vinyl Care
For an overall general cleaning under normal use, use a mild soap and lukewarm water solution, dry with a soft cloth.
Natural Leather Care
Because leather is a natural product, regular dusting and vacuum cleaning are the only necessary steps in caring for your product under normal conditions and use. For general spots and stains, use a mild solution of non-detergent cleaner, then rinse with lukewarm water and allow the leather to air dry naturally. For spots and stains caused from oils or grease, wipe with a soft day cloth and allow the spot to dissipate into the leather, without applying any water. Do not use special cleaning solvents, furniture polish, ammonia, oils, vanish, abrasive cleaners, saddle soap or any abrasive cleaners on leather, as it may cause discoloration.
C.O.M. Upholstery Care
Please refer to the cleaning instructions specifically recommended by the fabric, vinyl or leather supplier.
Temperature fluctuations should never exceed more than 15° over a 24-hour period. If interior wood trim (i.e. door/window frames, crown moldings, etc.) show signs of joint openings or movement, this indicates your Furniture could be damaged due to extreme dampness. Corrective action is highly recommended.
