DARRAN’s “ThinkingQuietly” receives coveted international design award
April 25, 2018

HIGH POINT, N.C./ April 25, 2018/ -- ThinkingQuietly, the innovative acoustic workstation collection from DARRAN Furniture, was announced as the recipient of the Red Dot Award for Design 2018, one of the most prestigious design awards worldwide.

ThinkingQuietly was selected by an independent and international jury from more than 18,000 applications from 59 countries. The collection features a signature acoustic material made from recycled plastic bottles that covers the umbrella, screens, desk pads and cable trough to trap sound and reduce noise in open floorplans. Acoustic engineers assisted in the design challenge of reducing noise in the open office, targeting the workstation itself. The 4-person workstation with an acoustic umbrella provides up to 44% improvement over standard stations with screens.

Identifying good design since 1950, the Red Dot Award has grown to be the largest and most recognized professional design competition for concept, prototypes and ready-to-launch products worldwide.

No stranger to awards, ThinkingQuietly received the Interior Design HiP Award for Workplace Desking in 2017. The collection was also honored at the Best of Year Awards in 2017 by Interior Design Magazine for Contract Desking.

ThinkingQuietly will be presented in the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore, the largest museum in the world for contemporary design. Winners are celebrated and showcased with millions of viewers each year at Red Dot’s two large world class design museums.

ThinkingQuietly was designed by ThinkingWorks Design Studio, a design team that takes curiosity to new heights, finding solutions to design exceptional furniture.
