2018

DARRAN opens new showroom in Chicago at the Merchandise Mart, home of the annual NeoCon event.

The premier showroom, located on the 10th floor, features 4,200 square feet of product tailored to the commercial design industry. The inspiring space is made up of a design library and innovative products that address the needs of today’s commercial environments. At NeoCon, DARRAN unveiled new seating, meeting tables, and private workbays.

2017

DARRAN turns 40. Providing quality products and service in the contract furniture industry. We have grown to three manufacturing facilities that produce more than 40 furniture collections in North Carolina.

DARRAN said Hello 40 with five new products debuted at NeoCon 2017. ThinkingQuietly, Diva, and EdgeWorks designed by the ThinkingWorks Design Studio, as well as Bota and Lamina designed by Keith Melbourne.

ThinkingQuitely wins HiP award in the Workplace Desking category. Bota makes finalist in the Hip awards in the Workplace High Back Seating category.

2016

DARRAN launches new responsive website that allows for viewing on mobile devices.

DARRAN simplifies product pricing by discontinuing “Zoned pricing” and moves to a single national price. DARRAN implements largest product enhancement ever by releasing increased depths, soft close suspensions and many additional product options. Notably, Central Park is now available in Melamine and Not SO Square in veneer.

At NeoCon 2016, DARRAN unveils the new Tablo seating collection, designed by Michael Wolk.

The new Rail casegoods collection is also introduced at NeoCon 2016. Rail features industrial steel trestles and plywood tops that create a unique and urban feel.

2015

DARRAN opens Corporate Showroom in High Point, NC. The space features the newest and most unique products DARRAN has to offer just steps away from where it is manufactured.

With new research pointing to sitting being the “new smoking,” DARRAN introduces Executive height adjustable desks that allow the option of a standing work station with refined wood craftsmanship.

DARRAN experiences record growth and increases capacity by opening a new plant and finishing line.

DARRAN renews GSA Schedule. The new Office Furniture Contract Number is GS-27F-001DA and is effective through November 2, 2020. DARRAN has been manufacturing federal and state contract products for more than 20 years. DARRAN is classified as a EDWOSB (Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business) with the Federal Government.

At NeoCon 2015, DARRAN introduces LIVE Edge Solid wood tables. These one of a kind tables are now posted on the DARRAN website. Grove Table wins Most unique new product at OFUSA Conference.

2014

At NeoCon 2014, DARRAN introduces NOT SO square collection, which includes private office, open office and collaborative products.

DARRAN begins the process of finishing seating products in-house.

2013

DARRAN begins the process of pressing veneers in-house. This allows DARRAN to gain better control of the material and quality that is put into every piece of furniture made for our customers.

2012

All DARRAN casegoods and wood conference tables became BIFMA Level 1 Certified.

At NeoCon 2012, DARRAN Introduces Rift Casegoods collection, designed by David Allan Pesso.

DARRAN also introduces Area Lounge and Posh Executive seating, designed by John Stafford / Chris Carter Designs, LLC.

The Business Journal published the first-ever Women-Owned Businesses list. DARRAN is the second-largest Woman-Owned company in the greater triad area.

2011

DARRAN receives certification as a Women's Business Enterprise from the WBENC.

DARRAN offers FSC products and achieves FSC CoC certification.

At NeoCon 2011, DARRAN introduces Covet, the company's first executive seating line. Covet is designed by Michael Shields.

2010

DARRAN converts its finishing systems over to Urethane and introduces ENVI-CT (Environmental Urethane Technology). ENVI-CT has increased finish durability and finish clarity, while protecting the environment by reducing offgassing.

ENVI-CT has enabled DARRAN to have all products MAS Certified Green. MAS certified products meet strict ANSI/BIFMA standards for indoor air quality and assist with building LEED credits.

2008

DARRAN becomes a woman-owned business, annoucing the following corporate changes:

DARRAN introduces a wood guest chair program and an all-laminate collection for the first time in the company's history.

2003

DARRAN introduces the Office Park Brand to offer a more value driven product to compete against imports.

DARRAN uses new technology versus imported components to reach the lower price points.

The company now employs over 220 people and has over 350,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space.

2000

DARRAN becomes the first contract furniture company to introduce an Anti-Microbial Finish.

1998

The Hollingsworth family takes sole ownership of DARRAN and the second generation, Jeff and Jennifer Hollingsworth, are heavily involved in the sales and marketing departments.

1996-1997

DARRAN becomes one of the first wood casegood companies to move from a catalyzed-lacquer finish to a high-tech conversion varnish (Rel-Viron).

DARRAN's goal becomes improving durability, offering a finish that was UL-certified fire-retardant, and using a finish that was better for the environment and its employees (39% reduction in HAPS and a 40% reduction in VOCs).

1980s

DARRAN becomes one of the first U.S. manufacturers to begin using European dowel-constructed drawers instead of the traditional dove-tail construction. DARRAN put their drawers on a lifetime guarantee after making this switch.

1977

DARRAN is founded by Randy Hollingsworth and Darrell Stout.

The company name is derived from their names: Darrell (Dar) and Randy (Ran).

Located in High Point NC, DARRAN begins with 12 people in a facility of 15,000 square feet.

DARRAN single shift capacity grows to over 200 pieces of furniture per day.

DARRAN becomes one of the first wood casegood companies to offer built-to-order furniture with numerous options.
